This page covers everything you need to know about membership and the Youth-Led Sponsorship Program for the Sundance Rodeo Club Youth Summer Series. This program applies to the Summer Series only. It does not apply to Crook County Fair events or other SRC events.
A current SRC membership is required to be eligible for points and year-end prizes in the Youth Summer Series. Any contestant in any division may compete without a membership but will not accumulate points and will not be eligible for year-end prizes or awards. They can still receive event payouts.
For a single contestant. Pay the $50 membership fee per contestant if you are not participating in the Youth-Led Sponsorship Program.
For immediate family members competing in the same season. One family membership at $150 covers all immediate family members competing in the series. Immediate family only, cousins, extended family, etc. do not qualify.
The membership fee is waived for any contestant or family who secures a sponsor of $150 or more through the SRC Youth-Led Sponsorship Program. One sponsor at $150 is all it takes to cover the family membership requirement. See the Sponsorship Program section below for details on how the program works and how to submit a sponsorship.
The SRC Youth-Led Sponsorship Program gives kids the opportunity to connect with local businesses, family, friends, and community supporters to help sponsor the club and support youth rodeo. When kids bring in sponsors, those dollars go directly toward prizes, awards, and buckles for the contestants.
Each family participating in the sponsorship program is expected to secure at least one sponsor of $150 or more. Families are welcome but not required to bring in additional sponsors beyond that.
Sponsorship dollars go directly toward prizes, awards, and buckles for youth contestants throughout the series.
Once a business agrees to sponsor, the sponsorship can be submitted in one of two ways. Use whichever option works best for you and the business.
The youth or the sponsor can complete the online sponsorship form. This is the fastest and easiest option.
If the business prefers a printed or digital form, download the sponsorship packet here. You can print it and bring it with you or email the PDF directly to the business.
As sponsorships are confirmed, Sundance Rodeo Club maintains a list of businesses that have already agreed to sponsor. Please check this list before approaching a business. Do not contact businesses that are already on the list. If a business is not on the list, kids are welcome to reach out.
When approaching a business here are a few things to cover:
Introduce yourself -- share your name, that you compete in youth rodeo, and that you are a member of the Sundance Rodeo Club
Explain that you are looking for a business to sponsor the SRC Youth Summer Series
Let them know sponsorship dollars go directly toward prizes, awards, and buckles for the kids
Ask what they would be willing to contribute and let them know the club appreciates a minimum of $150
Say thank you whether they sponsor or not, always leave on a good note
No. If you prefer you can pay the individual ($50) or family ($150) membership fee instead. Any contestant who does not have a membership or a sponsor may still compete but will not be eligible for points or year-end prizes. They can still receive event payouts.
Membership is only required if you want to be eligible for points and year-end prizes. If you are just coming to one rodeo and are not concerned about year-end standings, you can compete without a membership and still be eligible for event payouts.
To be eligible for year-end prizes and awards contestants must compete in at least two of the three rodeos in the series. A membership is required to accumulate points but competing in at least two rodeos is also required to be eligible for year-end prizes.
Yes, parents are encouraged to help guide and support. The goal is for kids to be involved in the process but this is meant to be a learning opportunity, not a stressful one.
